ADL APPLAUDS GOVERNOR DEAL

  • March 28, 2016

In response to Governor Deal’s decision to veto HB 757, Mark Moskowitz, ADL SE Region Director, issued the following statement:

The Anti-Defamation League applauds Governor Deal’s decision to be on the right side of history by vetoing House Bill 757.  This unjust legislation would have authorized discrimination against LGBT people and others in the marketplace, as well as in receipt of public and social services.  The Governor’s decision sends the resounding message that in Georgia government cannot sanction or support discrimination.  We would hope that this lesson is not lost on the legislature.  In 2017, we urge the Georgia General Assembly to embrace diversity by moving forward with comprehensive anti-discrimination and hate crimes legislation which will convey a welcoming message of inclusivity and attract the best and brightest to our State.
